Youtube!

I have ventured back in to the world of making youtube videos, tutorials and ones of that sort... I've missed it, and forgot how much fun it is coming up with an idea and filming it and then tidying up the horrendous mess I have created (of course) and then editing and uploading.  Its such a therapeutic process somehow!

So here was my inspiration...

And I see now that they were on top too!  What a face!

Spring Nail Picks...

I have recently sorted through all the nail varnishes in my kit and decided that I should put some back in to my personal collection as I never end up using certain colours on jobs and they are just sitting there not getting used!  I have around 60 something which I think is fairly standard among us nail polish lovers... please agree with me!

I have taken to keeping them in this hat box of my mums (she doesn't know about it yet) and theres lots of room for more! I really want the Deborah Lippmann 'Shake Your Groove Thing' (pictured below) to wear over a pinky nude (possibly No.7 'Practically Perfect') but I can't quite bring myself to spend that much on a nail polish that I'll probably only use a handful of times!  If anyone knows any cheaper dupes let me know!

Ok small tangent of lust over, here are my favourite spring nail colours from my collection.

From left to right: No.7 'Practically Perfect', H&M 'Pear Icecream', Topshop 'Listen to Me', Barry M 'Peach Melba', Revlon but name has rubbed off...the minty one, Barry M 'Berry', Barry M 'Blue Moon'.

I am about to apply the Topshop one as I haven't worn it for aaaaages!

Whats your favourite pastel polish?  And please someone find me a due for the Deborah Lippmann one!

Today I decided to start making tutorial videos again as I have the time at the moment and I really fancy doing it!  The first one I filmed turned out all red and weird because I filmed it on the wrong setting, and the second one cut out half way because my battery died, gah!  But I'll get there eventually so look out for my new videos!

Buying things...

I've been spending money again....but anyway lets not dwell on that!
I recently purchased Bioderma for the first time, probably a crime as I'm a Makeup Artist but I got there eventually (so many products, so little time) and I am in the LOVE IT camp definitely.  My heavy mascara application slides off  like a dream, it also takes off the rest of my makeup really effectively as the second cotton pad is always clean AND it doesn't sting my eyes in the slightest.  I'm glad I finally got round to that purchase.

I picked up the Garnier Summer Body today, I'm loving how the beautiful weather is topping up my travelling tan nicely but its not going to last forever so I thought this will do just the trick without stepping back in to full on fake tan land yet.

I just needed some nail varnish remover....so yeah that's pretty boring.

I have recently become a massive fan of essiebutton's youtube channel, that lady is pure entertainment, she has a beautiful face, fact, and she also gives great advice!  I heard her mention Flexitol a while ago and put it on my mental wish list but when she mentioned it again in her last video I remembered that I NEED THAT!  Basically I've used it once and I already love it, my nails are usually bendy and flaky and generally rubbish but my first application of this today has already made my nails seriously strong, I'm actually struggling to bend them at all. Weird but CLEVER!!

Oh and I'd forgotten my love for Elle Magazine but bought one to read in the sun on Sunday and I think I need to subscribe once and for all, it always has the best beauty pages!

I'm off now, hope you are all enjoying this incredible weather xxx

I'm moving... soon...

I just wanted to let you know I will be moving to WordPress soon.... NOT YET.... but soon!  My lovely friend Jo (you can follow her on Twitter here she is lush, and quite entertaining!) is helping me build a new and prettier site, so exciting!  There will still be posts on this site for a while but unfortunately because of silly GFC not being allowed on WordPress anymore I won't pop up in your blog feed when I do eventually make the move (if you follow me via Google Friend Connect).  Some of you do follow me through Bloglovin which is great, what other sites do people like using to follow blogs?  I would love some advice on the best ones to use!  In the mean time I would love it if you would follow me through Bloglovin if you use that (its my favourite)!

Thanks guys! x

Clarins Ever Matte...

Lurve this!  Really fine powder, lasts well on my skin (I can get rather shiny at times) and beautiful packaging!  Can't ask for more really, at £25 I think its a very reasonable price.  I would recommend it to anyone who is after a really fine translucent powder to set your foundation, giving no extra coverage and a very natural finish.  Winner.

Random Purchases...

The dangerous part of living back in Bristol is that I can walk to Cabot Circus (our main shopping area) in about 10-15 minutes!  This has not been kind to my bank balance, but I'm seeing it as something I need to just get out of my system and then I'll stop accidentally wondering down there in my free time!

I picked up these things the other day...

I thought I had lost both my pairs of Tweezermans so I thought I'd try out a cheaper alternative in the Cosmopolitan version, three for about £6.50!  Very cheap and actually great quality!  Turns out my Tweezermans were hiding in my set bag, ooops!

I saw this beautiful bracelet/bangle in Warehouse and had to get it, they do a navy version too.

I'm in need of losing a few extra travelling pounds, so I thought I would try the 30 Day Shred!!  I'm very excited about this, I love a diet or fitness DVD and this one has been talked about so much I thought I would see what all the fuss is about.  I started it yesterday and loved it the first time round, the two ladies that do the routine with her couldn't be more of an inspiration to get in shape!  I got mine in HMV for £10 but I know you can get it on Amazon for less.

Of course there are always a few makeup purchases; I always use this mascara, its brilliant at volumising and lengthening and gets better with age, luurve it.  I love lip stains as I can never be bothered to top up my lip colour, if I choose to wear one, and I couldn't resist this red one.  I haven't tried a Revlon one before so I will do a post on it soon, its such a gorgeous colour!

And lastly, I love Rimmel Pro polishes!  The massive brush makes it so easy to apply, this one is a murky khaki green, right up my street!

I'm scared to say there are more haul posts coming up, thanks for reading!

Nineties Lips

A nineties trend I have noticed recently (and that is really floating my boat) is the Dani Behr style lip liner, I love it!  I remember absolutely loving her face as a young teenager but always knowing I was a bit too young to pull off the look!  Funnily enough, one of the lovely makeup artists I work with a lot used to do her makeup back in the day, so I'm very pleased someone so close to home was responsible for the look I so desperately wanted to wear.  Other people who often sported this full, nude liner look were Pamela Anderson and Cindy Crawford.

Its pretty over the top and Pam looks like shes almost drawn in a moustache, I don't know what it is about this look but I can't get enough of it!  It probably has something to do with the fact that I grew up in an age when all the hot ladies were wearing it...

I was most pleased when I saw these advert campaigns, because now I have an excuse to start wearing it myself and not feel like a nineties throwback...

(Mango)

(Gap)

Not great quality pics as I got them from google images, but hopefully you have seen them already, or if not look out for them (they're everywhere) and have a close look at the lips, I think its such a simple and easy look to wear and also helps to achieve a fuller looking pout.

I was thinking Mac Stone lip liner is around the right shade but possibly too dark?   Let me know if you have any suggestions for a good browny/pinky/nude liner!

At Work...

I took some pictures of my makeup station at 'The Alan Titchmarsh Show' the other day, so I thought I would share them with you.  I have been working on the show for nearly 5 years now, we have just finished working on this series but will be back in September....I doubt any of you watch regularly..... its not exactly our age group ;)
They're not great photos but I thought you might want to nosy anyway....I always do!

Me, slightly weary after a days work!

Just slightly MAC heavy photo!

Yes that IS four Real Techniques Blush Brushes.

I would love to see posts like this from other Makeup Artists, its always so interesting to see how other people's work stations look!  Mine is usually just chaos, I'm a very messy worker but I'm desperate for a new way or organising my kit!  Send me the link if you have seen any!

RapidBrow Update - Week 2

I have been using Rapid Brow for exactly 2 weeks now, applying every morning and every night, apart from maybe 2 or 3 times when I have forgotten (oops) but I did this with my RapidLash and it still worked.  Anyway I have noticed a small difference already I think, mainly with the density, I feel like there are less gaps... lets compare...

Before...

2 Weeks later...

Hmmmm, the photos look pretty similar to me but perhaps with a very slight difference in density.  Its not actually supposed to have full effect until 8 weeks so maybe its too soon.  I will keep documenting every 2 weeks and hopefully we will see a big difference by the end!

Has anyone else used this?  Would love to know what you think!
